Our Goal

Our goal is for every boy to have the opportunity to participate in scouting. Like many programs, scouting also carries with it various costs. With that said, our goal is for every boy to have the opportunity to pay his way through scouting through fundraisers that have a proven track record. Participation in the fundraisers is not a requirement, but lack of participation would simply result in higher cost out of pocket.

Gourmet Popcorn Sales

The major fundraiser for the year occurs in September and October. All scouts are encouraged to participate in selling gourmet popcorn from Trails End. They can participate by selling to friends & family, going door-to-door (with an adult), or by participating in pre-arranged show-n-sell events at local businesses. An average popcorn item sells for between $10 and $18 with bundles ranging from $25 to 50. An excellent goal for every scout is to fill at least one order sheet (30 orders) which equates to about $500 in total popcorn sales. Of the total sale proceeds, 25% is credited to the scout for the purpose of paying his way through scouting.

Price Chopper & Hy-Vee Coupon Books

This is an ongoing fundraiser. Coupon books for Price Chopper or Hy-Vee can be purchased anytime throughout the year at $5 per book. Of that amount, $4 is credited to your son’s scout account for each book. Within each coupon book there is a coupon for $5 off a grocery bill of $50 or more and so these coupon books can literally pay for themselves while putting money toward your son’s scouting costs.
